Nike, is the world’s largest apparel brand, selling 36 billion annually but the company is facing allegations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination after a group of women at Nike circulated a covert survey. What came of that survey was reported in the New York Times and shows years of a toxic culture for women. The questionnaire came after several high ranking female managers left the company and provided the Times with some shocking details. One woman complained about a manager pushing his way into the bathroom trying to kiss her...another male manager bragged about the condoms he carried in his backpack and magazines with scantily clad women. The survey got to CEO Mark Parker’s desk, and as you might recall, the air apparent for Parker, Trevor Edwards left the company in March amid allegations of sexual harassment. Six other men in leadership roles are also leaving NIKE.
Parker says NIKE is taking action to fix issues and create a culture of respect.
