NO SEXUAL HARASSMENT PANDAS

There isn’t a topic under the sun that South Park hasn’t lampooned.  From climate change to scientology, the team at South Park has managed to offend just about every race, religion and sexual orientation.  They are in the offending (or humor) business depending on your triggers and their libertarian slant on all things sacred to the political right and left included an episode making fun of sexual harassment training with a mascot known as “Sexual Harassment Panda”.

The episode starts with the panda teaching students about sexual harassment and ends with everyone suing each other. This is what many employers fear when they are compelled to comply with mandatory sexual harassment training as required by the state of California. They worry that claims of harassment will increase, resulting in more litigation. In fact, the EEOC logged 27,000 claims of harassment in 2016.

In reality, sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation training is really more about setting and supporting good company culture.  When employees and supervisors have a clear understanding of the law, good company culture is defined and there is no room for harassing, retaliatory or discriminatory behavior.  When business owners take proactive steps to give everyone the information and support the training with additional leadership and soft skills training, then inappropriate behavior never becomes an option.  No pandas needed...just a training tool that emphasizes good company culture, the latest in expanded workplace harassment laws and told by the people those laws impact the most. You’re in the right place to find that source.
